Reference Services:  If you have a question, just Ask a Librarian –, or by phone at 414-858-4995.  Library staff are available for personal help on weekdays, from 8:00am – 4:30pm.  We can assist with simple questions, or consult on advanced research.

How do I get a library card?  You will need to register with a library staff member during regular office hours (weekdays, 8:00am – 4:30pm; we are closed for lunch from noon – 1:00 ).  Please have a driver’s license or other form of identification available.  There is no charge for this courtesy card, or for borrowing materials from other SWITCH libraries.

The borrowing period for books is 28 days, with one renewal.  Audio-visual material loan periods will vary according to the policies of the SWITCH library.

Search for a book – You may search for a book in the library catalog by keyword, author, title, subject, ISBN, and other ways.  To get the call number, simply click on the title.  If Sacred Heart owns an item, you will see our name in the list of holding libraries.  If Sacred Heart does not own the item, you may request it by clicking on “Request” in the box.

Search for a CD or DVD – You may search for a CD or DVD in the library catalog by keyword, author, title, or subject.  These items are checked out in the same way as library books, and you may place a hold on them.

Borrowing from the Library – The library uses a self-check system (similar to those found in grocery stores).  You will need your library bar code to check out materials yourself.  You may also ask a library staff member to help you during regular office hours (weekdays, 8:00am – 4:30pm).

SHML Library CrossWalk – For residents of Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake, the library offers the Library CrossWalk service.  The Library CrossWalk service uses volunteers from SHML to shuttle materials between the Leo Dehon Library and SHML.  Visit the Dehon Library to register for your community borrower card and meet the library staff ready to assist you.

Library Technology – In addition to the ‘hardware’ of technology, library staff can offer some assistance in using your devices, or other technology questions.

My Library Account – Click on “Sign In” in the upper right of the main library catalog screen.  You may see what you have checked out, renew something, or change your password or tracking settings. You will need your SHSST email login or, for our community users, your bar code number and PIN.
